Ideas... post no. 19 - blog marathon

I am an idea queen, and I can bet that so are many of us.   It is easy to dole out ideas one after another but difficult is execution. I love it when I see any of my idea getting shape and changing into reality.   It takes lot of hard work, planning and grit and a never say die attitude to get the ideas turn into solid work done. I have seen many people toying with ideas for years together but never mustering the courage to take that first step which will be the cornerstone for making a brilliant idea into a brilliant work done.

Rest in peace

The news of the untimely death of legendary Sridevi is heartbreaking. I had her posters all over my place during my teen years.. her songs in Chandni will still make you dance.   A huge loss to all of us. Only one request to all those who are incessantly talking about the ‘surgeries’ that contributed to her death, please stop.   You do not know the realities of some one’s life, so let it be. My heart goes out to her two daughters for whom this is a huge shock and life must be on a stand still for them. If we are so shocked and saddened just imagine what they might be going through. May her soul rest in peace.

Faith - poetry - post no. 17- blog marathon

Traversing through the maze of life I struggled through many a strife Shade and sun played havoc Amidst chaos I ran amok It was Faith that calmed me down Made me smile instead of frown Faith enveloped me like a blanket Keeping me away from any lament This is the beauty of faith and belief It blesses you with strength and relief Faith is my calm, my boon On   many dark nights it’s my shining moon

Just a rant - post no. 16- blog marathon

Why do I write? I have asked this question to myself many times and always got the answer that I love writing.  I am never really far away from the idea of writing, anything I do , at the end of the day I feel satisfied if I had written something that day.  Then you may ask, if that is the case then why so few blog posts even after 10 years of blogging ? Your question is absolutely valid.. sometimes I just am not able to put my feelings on to the paper .. or on to a new blog post.  Every thought just reverberates in my mind and some how I am unable to put anything in black and white. For example today I am all restless there is so much going on in the work front and so much to do but I am not able to concentrate.. I wanted to write  that's it.  I know it sounds like more of a rant than a genuine post, yes, because I have so much to say but no idea how to say and what to say... before I confuse you any more let me stop. By the way...Yay!! I just crossed  the half w

Movie Review - post no. 15 - blog marathon

Saw the movie ‘Padman’ today, what a movie ! It is awe inspiring to know that in real life a man struggled so much to provide comfort to women. He meddled into a subject which is considered taboo till date.  This movie based on the life and work of Padmashri Arunachalam Muruganantham is a beautiful depiction of the extra ordinary struggle and success of an ordinary man. Akshay Kumar’s acting is absolutely brilliant, natural and on the point.   Do watch it just to assure yourself that struggles pay off, they really do!

Long winding roads tall, towering trees snow clad mountains hot piping tea Long walks and long conversations running around swinging on the swings lazing on the grass Bright full moon peeping through the apple tree green apples shining bright and beautiful soft music and soul food gurgling river, ravishing nature mountains you beckon me....

Arrogance - Post no. 12 - blog marathon

Game of arrogance.   No it’s not the name of a new web series or a new series of novel. Arrogance and self-importance are two intangible but very present feelings which you would bump into in any Corporate corridor. You will find people sitting in their ivory towers ordering around hapless subordinates or colleagues. You would also find them walking with long strides, head held high in haughtiness and they would hardly ever return your pleasantries and would mostly   see through you.   Have you met such people? I am sure you must have.   Corporate corridors and cabins are not the only place they thrive; you will find them among your relatives and neighbors as well. How do you deal with it? Do you ignore them and stay out of their way or you just grin and bear because you are not in a position to ignore them as you have to deal with them daily?

Hair story - post no. 11- blog marathon

Once upon a time I had long , poker straight hair and I found it boring.  Today I am dying to get  straight hair and my hair just won't listen, Karma, I tell you !  It's been years now since I have started wearing shoulder length hair in steps, because of years of steps put into them my hair now does not remember it's glorious past and refuses to come back to it's original shape.  Now my daughter has the same hair that I had once, her hair is long and straight and looks beautiful but she finds it boring!! Now she wants to cut it short, wave it , layer it etc. etc. I am sure like me one day she will also look at her wavy hair and lament the loss of her glorious straight crowning glory. I hope she changes her mind soon. what is your hair story ?? I am sure we all have one !

Say Sorry ! - Post no. 9 - Blog marathon

Never underestimate the power of a heartfelt  apology.   A heartfelt 'Sorry' can mend a broken heart to a great extent, it can also put the soul back into a tired and dejected person who might be waiting for that 'Sorry'. I personally feel that their should not be any egos attached to a sorry.  If you are saying sorry just as a formality then chances are high that  person to whom you are saying it shall  definitely understand that your sorry was just  a hollow word, that it had no depth or feeling to it . I have seen relationships crumbling under the weight of the expectation of a sorry, distances dragging long and heavy because of the lack of it.  I have done it myself, I just tossed away precious years of my life -  away from a very important and  loved person in my life,  just because I hesitated to say sorry for a long long time. I feel that relationships can be saved and families can be  resurrected if people conjured up the courage to apologise.  A

Letters ! - post no. 8 - Blog marathon

Image
Do you remember the good old times when we used to write letters? I do... I loved writing letters and was really  excited when I would receive a reply.  In fact the mere  sight of a post man would send me to the height of excitement and happiness.   I started writing letters when I was really young, may be 5 or 6 because my early childhood was spent away from my parents so my Aunts would make me write to my mother off and on.  I would struggle but would write to my mother whenever I got a chance.  picture courtesy : internet The sky blue 'inland letters' had the charm of a person itself.  When I left my grandparents place and joined my parents in Delhi the tradition continued, now my mother made me write to my grandparents and Aunts.. it was so gratifying I still remember how I used to wait for the post man to bring the replies to my letters. Such was my fixation with letters, post man and post box that  whenever my parents bought me some savories on an ou

If I were having coffee with you - post no. 7- Blog marathon

If I were having coffee with you... 1) I would tell you that how I crave for a steaming cup of coffee but my health problem has made me go off anything which has milk in it so I will opt for a black coffee while I would  give you a frothing cup of milky cofee... sigh! 2) I would also tell you how anxious a mother I am  right now as my elder one's board exams are just round the corner.. we have less than a month to go for it .. phew! 3) How I would tell you that I am finding it really difficult to keep up with this marathon as I am not keeping well off and on but at the same time this is a challenge which I am going to take head on and finish with it ! 4) If you have read this blog of mine you would know that I have always struggled with one thing and that is 'how to keep silent'. Through out the years I had been struggling with this and had been pledging off and on with my self to develop the art of silence but alas ! I have always failed. Now I am going

A refreshing read - Post no. 6 - blog marathon

Image
I recently read ' The light between oceans' by M L Stedman.  I totally loved this book and would recommend this to every one. It is hard to believe that this  is Stedman's first book, she has written with the expertise of a seasoned writer, the specialty of the book according to me is that it is set up in the 1920's, an era untouched by the confusion and overdose of communication like now. picture courtesy : Internet This novel exquisitely explores the life and conflicts of a light house keeper and does it with much conviction.  This book moved me to tears, so you can judge the impact it has on it's readers.  It is a refreshing read though it has its streak of sadness but it takes you away to a time when communication was slow but life was much better. Do read this book if you get a chance.. i understand that it has been made into a movie too. Usually the movie disappoints when you are watching it after having read the book but you never know with

Breeze and the Gulmohur - Post no. 5 - Blog Marathon

picture courtesy : Internet Lazily , languidly she pushed the leaves they rustled, they laughed and waved at her nests of sparrows swayed gently the bird herself twittered in cold Warmth of pale sunlight caught up with her brazenly beautiful was the breeze she paid no heed to the sunlight kept her leisurely pace bewitchingly smooth Blooming flowers' fragrance caught up with her glancing over her shoulders she giggled at them pinks and fuschias blushed at her she still kept on with her slow, sweet dance Cupids arrow struck her hard she lay wounded and bled at heart small beads of love trickled down and she swayed and slithered she  gazed up at the strong Gulmohur tree who had stealthily strewn around inviting red flowers for her to lovingly tease  and tread....

Gratitude - Post no. 4 - Blog marathon

When life throws curve balls at you, start practising gratitude. It is the only way out, because when you start staring at life's problems it will give you more. When you start appreciating little things in life, it will still give you more. There are so many blessings in our life which we take for granted and does not even give it a second thought. Then a day comes in our life when we have to do without those very things  and suddenly we realise how big it was in our life  and how small was our gratitude towards it.  You may ignore this thought as superficial, superstitious or eve illogical but it is proven beyond doubt that there are many people in this world who practise gratitude and are eternally blessed because of it.   Please read Oprah Winfrey's 'I know for Sure', it will give you ample evidence of role of gratitude in her life.  Like her there are many, celebrities and commoners alike who practice gratitude and stay blessed.    What about you,

A Decade of blogging !! - post no. 3 - Blog marathon

For me it is unbelievable !,  but true that this year I completed 10 years of blogging. yoohooo!! I started in the year 2008, blogging was in existence much before.  I think most of the established bloggers of now started off around same time or may be couple of years earlier.  Times have changed,  now blogging has been taken over by micro blogging sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,  these mediums have the added advantage of going live with the audience which provides instant gratification.  Many of my favourite bloggers are off the hook, they are now  elsewhere doing what they do in a much better way and may be on a better medium.   For me blogging has its own charm, it allows you the space to go on.. here you can ramble and vent as much as you want. Also it is my favourite place to challenge my self to write.  Once in a while when I suddenly go off the place and lose all will to write , somehow this place pulls me back to it.  I drag my self here and then I do a

Weather story ! post no. 2 - Blog Marathon

Winters are slowly starting to wind up here. It is trying it's best to make sure that we do not forget her easily, so some days she lies low and yet another day she strikes a full blow of cold, very cold wind. I do not know if I like winters better or it is summer that I yearn for.  I think I like a bit of both, that time when winter is slowly fading away and spring is just waiting around the corner. Also those months such as October where winter plays hide and seek with autumn and when one fine day when we wake up we are welcomed with a beautiful view  of dew drops on yellow marigolds. Interestingly weather plays a very important role in our lives, scorching summers witness early morning jams on the streets, and when sun is at its peak in the afternoon you can see people losing their cool, sweating and swearing at the same time.  Early mornings in winters, the streets wear a deserted look, only fog and cold winds give company to those few who venture out of their hom
