Elephantine star...

You name the dish and it will be in front of you in a jiffy, you name your problem and she will be there to hold your hand and give you a free advise. The entire ladies clan was her fan, every one enjoyed chit chatting with her, every one flocked to her house during the free time. She was surrounded by young and old alike.  As night falls she waits for an opportunity to tell her son how much his wife had been ignoring her of late.  All day she, his mother  is in the kitchen doling out favorite dishes for the uncaring daughter in law and him and his younger brother. Her feet are like elephant feet now, with swelling spreading till the calf. But then who cares! The phone rings and this is the other ladies clan, her fans , followers from the locality where she used to live earlier.. they are all dropping in tomorrow for a short visit around 1.00 pm . How can she disappoint them, after all they swoon over her culinary skills.. so she saunters into the kitchen, eleph...

dilapidated

The thatched roof was dilapidated, a heavy rain fall was all that it needed to start leaking from every nook possible.   The courtyard was covered only from three sides, from one side it was open, the makeshift gate was made up of uneven bamboo sticks and it did not require much strength or intelligence to open it.   All in all the entire house was an open invitation to thieves, and safety was not discussed often enough.  The glimmering lantern perched on a hook fixed along the low roof covering the elevated front veranda. It seemed as if the house breathed, it smelt of molds and old books and nostalgia. The feeble light of the lantern kept flickering then steadied just as the house kept going in and out of memories.   The white beautiful sand  in the front yard that  once shone bright in moonlight was not to be seen any more, it was thickly covered with overgrown bushes and   creepers , may be snakes wandered freely beneath it, may be not. ...

the butterfly kiss...

Sitting on the cold and damp ground she hugged the tombstone tight... tighter than the lump in her throat.  Tears streamed down her face, a face lined with fatigue and sorrow, deep , heart wrenching sorrow. The butter flies flew all over her, some sat on her face , even on her lips, they were beautiful, of myriad colours and they were all happy and soft.  They were always happy as she was their keeper, the small patch of kitchen garden in her backyard got converted into a heaven for butterflies, neither he, nor her or the butterflies realised the transformation, they were all caught up in the beauty of those beautiful flowers blooming all around which in turn had the butterflies multiplying on the mulberry tree and the small green apple tree with it's branches full of heady apple blossoms. A huge drop of rain awakened her, she was still clinging to the tombstone, cold and hard, feelingless and nothing like the warm, funny and laughing Tom she knew... the butterflie...

rebirth....

slipped from the grasp like slippery, shimmery sand washed into eternal sea like  waves flowing back from land salty like a single drop of tear memories bare, of love and fear parched heart like dry leaf rustles on  tattered feelings, refusing to be gone hands are  like lead, heavy and  unflinching to brush off the pain clinging like it has claws..pinching.. drawing tears no blood, only tears Fumbling, then finding  strength like the phoenix bird,  rejoice - the rebirth

Miracle

Do you believe in miracles? I do. I am fascinated by the idea of a miracle, there have been instances in my life where I have felt that what just happened was nothing short of a miracle in it’s literal sense. I feel it is very positive to believe in miracles, I am not saying that we should just sit pretty waiting for a miracle to happen, we must do our 100% and wait for the natural progression of that 100% effort but if that is topped by a miracle as well, it would be really great, is it not?? Sometimes the very idea of a positive, wonderful outcome can pave way to it happening sooner or later… yes it does.   There are so many why’s and how’s that play in our mind that shows us how a particular thing may not happen at all, but then suddenly it happens, without even giving us a chance to contemplate how did this go?.   I read a small, simple book, which is about positive thinking, but it was not the normal, visualization, affirmation stuff, it was about changing...

pulling me up....

Recently I attended a 3 day training program by a world renowned trainer and learned many new things.  The irony is he was not saying anything new, everything he said was everything we already know, but seldom act upon it.  I liked the programme very much, but one thing which stayed with me is his encouragement to write, write a journal daily, not much, just to jot down how do you feel about certain things in life on a daily basis, for example 'today I learned....', 'today I commit', 'Today I am proud of 'etc.  I started doing it and now its been over 10 days and when I go back and look at that journal, what I feel is how easy it is to get dejected in life, it is the most easiest thing to do, to feel dejected, and to deject others as well.  It takes a lot of courage to lift others up and it requires a lot more than that to pull oneself up, to face ones own insecurities, fears, challenges and innate nature.  According to me  the whole idea of this ...

Mirage

Some days are dark and dowdy, some days are all spring and sun.   Of late, I feel there is something inside me, which is immensely eager to break free, break free into lines, paragraphs, pages, and chapters, metamorphosing into a wonderful, soul touching piece of literature.    Am I out of my mind, or is it the age catching up with me and showing me mirages. No idea.     I am quite cosy and smug about this at one point of time and some other time I am a bundle of nerves, not knowing what is it that is going on inside me? Whatever it is, so long it inspires me to come back to my blog and write I am fine with it. May be this ‘something’ inside me will never materialize, may be it will but I just hope this will, will me to write and write and write..  Till then dear friends and dear me… take care and stay blessed
